This year, the symposium is organised by PhD students belonging to the Graduate School of Molecular Medicine from the University of Eastern Finland. The symposium is titled Visionary Science and will deal with issues of science in everyday life, science in the news, the role of women in science etc. Experts in various fields from within Finland and abroad will be coming to share their views and opinions with us and encourage lively discussions. The symposium will take place on the 9th and 10th of September 2010 at the Kuopio Music Centre with five sessions in total and two poster sessions. (see the Google map)
This year for the first time we have decided to include a photography contest as part of the symposium. All the participants are welcome to take part in this contest which is titled “Science in everyday life”. Those interested have to take photographs of what science in everyday life means to them. There will be prizes to win!
Another important aim of the FinBioNet symposium is to bring together PhD students from different backgrounds together to share experiences and get to know each other. This is also a social occasion to form new networks and make friends.
